October , 2023

Dear Friends of Ives Pool,

As we approach the year's end and look forward to 2024, we want to acknowledge 2023's accomplishments at Ives Pool. We had a very successful and active year with all programs running. Ives Pool continues to be a safe and fun place for aquatics activities for everyone.

Our youth swim program was a huge success.  We provided lessons to 2000+ kids, the highest number we have ever served. A big thanks to our Aquatics Director, Ricardo Freitas, and our Swim Program Coordinator, Katie Finegan for providing a full staff of excellent, qualified swim instructors and lifeguards!  We also completed upgrades to the facility, including pool cover replacement and repairs to the pool filter and valves, to ensure the pool remains functional and healthy for our swimmers. We have additional picnic tables that were supported by the Sebastopol Rotary Club

The coordination of these activities requires a strong supportive team. All of this was possible due to the hard work of all of our pool staff. We are so grateful for their dedication and reliability.

Our goal is to ensure that Ives Pool continues to provide all of the aquatics programs to our community.  We have had some challenges this year due to sky-rocketing energy costs and weather-related events affecting attendance. We will also need to continue to upgrade the pool lane lines and pool covers in the coming year.

Ives Pool is unique among all the other pools in Sonoma County.  These other pools are both owned and operated by the cities where they are located.  While the facilities at Ives are owned by the City of Sebastopol, 100% of the day-to-day operations are run by a non-profit organization (WSCS) guided by its Board of Directors.  The expense of running Ives Pool is accomplished solely through user fees and donations.  Therefore, we are asking for your support.  Ives Pool would not be here if it were not for friends and enthusiasts like you.

Thank you for your engagement and we welcome your feedback as we work to keep Ives Pool the vital, community resource it has always been.

Thank you,

Ives Pool Board of Directors
